Who We Are
The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) is a special fund at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. The Fund is dedicated to promoting socio-economic development and reducing poverty in the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. With a clear mission to lead innovative poverty reduction programs, ISFD focuses on developing partnerships that address the most pressing development challenges in IsDB member countries.
What We Do
ISFD is committed to addressing socio-economic challenges and improving the lives of people in our member countries. We target interventions with proven impact to eradicate poverty. We empower women and youth to drive economic growth, invest in human development to unlock individual potential, and support building resilient communities through access to education, healthcare, and clean energy.

Republic of Maldives

Country Overview

The Republic of Maldives consists of 1,192 small tropical islands that cross strategic shipping routes, and it has a richly diverse marine environment.

The Maldives joined IsDB in 1980.

Current Projects

Recognizing the vital role that fisheries play in the Maldivian economy and people's livelihoods, the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) has implemented a project under the Lives and Livelihoods Fund which involved Supporting People's Livelihoods in the Fishery Sector through Sustainable Energy. This project focuses on supporting the Maldivian fishery sector by promoting sustainable energy practices.
