Who We Are
The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) is a special fund at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. The Fund is dedicated to promoting socio-economic development and reducing poverty in the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. With a clear mission to lead innovative poverty reduction programs, ISFD focuses on developing partnerships that address the most pressing development challenges in IsDB member countries.
What We Do
ISFD is committed to addressing socio-economic challenges and improving the lives of people in our member countries. We target interventions with proven impact to eradicate poverty. We empower women and youth to drive economic growth, invest in human development to unlock individual potential, and support building resilient communities through access to education, healthcare, and clean energy.

ISFD collaborates with member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) who contribute significantly to our capital. Republic of The Gambia

Country Overview

The Gambia is a small West African country, with an area of 11,295 Km2. Although small in size, The Gambia harbors a wealth of land, coastal, marine and wetland habitats and species of national and global significance, making it an attractive tourist destination. The country has a population of 2.1 million in 2017 with a high average rate of growth of 3.2 percent per year over the last decade. Most of the population (57 percent) is concentrated around urban and peri-urban centers. Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita in 2017 was estimated at US$523 (2010 US Dollars). The Gambia became independent from Britain in February 1965.

Current Projects

The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) has actively supported development initiatives in the Gambia's agricultural sector. This includes projects like the Land Livelihoods Fund's Rice Value Chain initiative, which strengthens the country's rice production. Additionally, ISFD's involvement in the Regional Soil Fertility Mapping Program contributes to improved agricultural practices in the country. Furthermore, ISFD's support for the Small Ruminant Production Enhancement Project to promote livestock farming in the country. In the health sector, ISFD's supported the Obstetric Fistula Program.
