Country Overview
The Republic of Yemen occupies the southwestern to southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. Bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea to the south, and Oman to the east, Yemen includes a territory encompassing over 200 islands. The largest of these islands, Socotra, lies approximately 354 kilometers south of mainland Yemen. As of 2016, the estimated population of Yemen is 29.1 million.
Current Projects
The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) has made significant contributions to Yemen's development efforts. These include the Enhancement of Rural Development Opportunities Project, which empowers rural communities, the Fisheries Development Project, which strengthens the fishing industry, and the Vocational Literacy Program for Poverty Reduction (VOLIP), which equips Yemenis with valuable skills. Most recently, the ISFD provided emergency support to improve Yemen's preparedness and response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
