ISFD Director Visits Guinea to Enhance Cooperation

Conakry, Guinea – July 24, 2024 - Dr. Hiba Ahmed, the Director General of the ISFD, visited the Republic of Guinea from July 23 to 24, following an invitation from H.E. Ismaël Nabé, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, IsDB Governor for Guinea. 

Dr. Hiba was received by the Prime Minister of Guinea, H.E. Amadou Oury Bah, who welcomed her to Conakry. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the cooperation between Guinea and the IsDB Group, particularly with the ISFD. He highlighted the current Development Waqf Project and the need for initiatives to economically empower the youth and women of Guinea as key areas of focus, especially in light of the country's challenges with youth illegal migration. Dr. Hiba thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception and reiterated ISFD's commitment to supporting youth and women's economic empowerment, as well as initiatives through the ISFD’s Global Islamic Fund for Refugees to address the challenges faced by displaced persons.

Dr. Hiba Ahmed was also received by the Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E. Mourana Soumah, who expressed his thanks to the ISFD for supporting the social development in Guinea and expressed the interest of Guinea to advance the collaboration in micro-financing initiatives. 

Dr. Hiba concluded her mission with a meeting with H.E. Djiba Diakité, Minister and Director of Cabinet, in the presence of General Amara Camara, Minister and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic of Guinea, who convoyed the deep appreciation of the Government to the ISFD and IsDB for the initiatives undertaken in Guinea. On her part, Dr. Hiba also expressed her sincere gratitude to the Government of Guinea for the warm reception and hospitality she received everywhere during the mission and reaffirmed the ISFD’s willingness to enhance its interventions and collaboration with Guinea for the cause of developing the human capital and empowering communities.

Dr. Hiba also participated in a roundtable discussion with the IsDB Governor for Guinea, H.E. Ismaël Nabé, and a delegation from the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN). The discussions, guided by the Prime Minister's directives, focused on enhancing cooperation. These fruitful discussions concluded that both parties will collaborate in the light of the ISFD's anticipated HOPE program - currently under the process of approval - whereby the ISFD can support the agriculture value chain through unlocking potentials, building capacities, and economically empower the women and youth.
