ISFD Renews Commitment to Poverty Alleviation on International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – 17 October 2024 – The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) marked the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty by reaffirming its commitment to combatting poverty in Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) member countries. As the poverty alleviation arm of the IsDB Group, the ISFD has been a driving force in addressing the complex challenges of poverty through impactful programs and initiatives. 

Since its inception, the ISFD has approved over US$1.23 billion for programs focused on human capital development, economic empowerment, and building resilience within vulnerable communities. These initiatives have expanded access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, contributing to greater prosperity and sustainable livelihoods.

H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, the IsDB President, emphasized the Bank’s unwavering dedication to poverty reduction and sustainable development. “Despite the challenges posed by the global polycrisis,” he stated, “we remain steadfast in our pursuit of a more equitable and inclusive future.” 

“The ISFD is proud to contribute to the global effort to eradicate poverty,” said Dr. Hiba Ahmed, the ISFD Director General. “We are committed to delivering programs with a lasting impact on vulnerable populations, particularly through market-based approaches to empower women and youth, create jobs, and foster sustainable livelihoods.” 

The ISFD’s innovative, collaborative approach, working with member countries, international development partners, and civil society organizations, has been instrumental in developing and implementing effective solutions to address the multifaceted nature of poverty.
