Al-Quds Empowerment Fund Holds Third Board of Trustees Meeting in Amman
Amman, Jordan – September 3, 2024 – The Al-Quds Empowerment Fund convened its third Board of Trustees meeting in Amman, Jordan. Presided over by His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal who also serves as the Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Trustees, the meeting was graciously hosted by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce.
The event served as a platform to officially launch the Fund’s projects for the year 2024. Attendees included prominent figures from Jordan and Palestine, as well as His Excellency Mr. Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairi, the Saudi Ambassador to both Jordan and Palestine. Representatives from donor institutions, charitable organizations, and contributors to the Fund were also present.
During the meeting, Dr. Hiba Ahmed, the Director General of the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development, and the Chair of the Fund's Administrative Committee, commended the substantial support the Al-Quds Fund for Empowerment has garnered from all contributors. This support has been instrumental in enabling the Fund to execute its strategic initiatives to empower the people of Al-Quds economically and foster the city's development in many sectors, including education, housing, and infrastructure.
Dr. Hiba Ahmed extended her heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group and Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Contributors for his support and guidance, emphasizing that this support underscores the Bank's unwavering commitment to supporting sustainable development not only in Al-Quds but Palestine in general.
Moreover, Dr. Hiba Ahmed conveyed her deep gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal and Mr. Munib Al-Masri for their tireless efforts in spearheading the Fund and activating its role in serving Al-Quds and its people. She also expressed her sincere appreciation to the Jordan Chamber of Commerce for their gracious hospitality and organization of this significant gathering.
His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal has highlighted the significance of the meeting in shaping the future of Al-Quds Empowerment Fund. He emphasized the introduction of a comprehensive package of projects aimed at providing ongoing support to the people of Al-Quds. Prince Turki Al-Faisal noted that the Fund's establishment under the Islamic Development Bank and led by His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, has fostered new partnerships and collaborations, enabling more focused efforts of resource mobilization.
During the meeting, a new package of projects totaling more than US$18 million was announced to support empowerment initiatives in Al-Quds. Partnership agreements were also signed with Al-Quds based institutions to begin implementing these projects. This implementation is coordinated by the IsDB’s Regional Hub in Cairo. The meeting has also adopted the Fund’s Resource Mobilization Strategy which aims at securing a consistent funding stream for future projects.
