Country Overview

Republic of Tajikistan joined the IsDB on 27 November 1996. It is a least developed member country in the IsDB country assessment category and consequently the country is a recipient of the IsDB concessional loan and grant resources.

Tajikistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia with an area of 143,100 km2 with population of 9.3 million. The country boasts significant hydropower potential and strategic minerals including coal, gold, silver, precious stones, and uranium.

Current Projects

The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development plays a fundamental role in supporting Tajikistan's progress. Through targeted initiatives like microfinance for rural communities, education development, vocational training for poverty reduction, and maternal and child healthcare improvement, the fund empowers individuals and communities. Additionally, projects like water resource management in Khalton ensure sustainable growth and environmental well-being.
